d.i.y: geometric coffee table

the pride and joy of my life is our $10 coffee table
i found it at a consignment shop on 50% off day
it has these great legs that you squeeze and fold away so it can be easily stored and moved
i had painted it with chalkboard paint which was a great way for ky to play
but the novelty wore off and i wanted a more adult looking table
using some of the left over paint from my chair makeover,
i decided to tape out a geometric pattern on the table top
i measured widths to make sure they were relatively straight
and pressed the tape down firmly to ensure crisp clean lines
i painted over the table with a sponge roller
and pulled off the tape while the paint was still wet
pull the layers of tape off that are on the most top layer
also remember that you want to pull the tape at a sharp angle, never upwards
this was my finished result
the worn chalkboard paint contrasted the semi-gloss finish of the newly painted surface
an adult looking table in less time than an afternoon nap!
what have you repainted lately? share your projects!
