sewing: pillowcase baby dress

i made Esme' her first dress... and i am so damn proud of myself.
i've made dresses before but why it took me so long to make one for my daughter... who knows.
i followed the pillow case dress tutorial by prudent baby and it couldn't have been easier
i love the fabrics i chose- a mustard yellow and navy teal compliment
i like mixing a floral with a modern geometric
i think it keeps it unexpected yet still fresh without being too matchy matchy
i used one strap so i could tie a bow near her neckline
and esme' did everything in her power to chew it to bits!
i added a hefty ruffle to the bottom because i eventually want to make her some slippers to go with her dress
{ those are soon to come! }
 i even used bias tape for the inside of the arm holes which was a first for me!
it gives the dress a finished look to it and even compliments the fabric of the dress
i didn't do a tutorial because i didn't think it would come out that great
and because prudent baby did such a good job
{ why try to redo something already done great? }
 i am in LUUUURVE and keep telling craig that this new found sewing confidence is going to be good for esme's inner fashionista!
stay tuned for more!
{ if you like this dress... i would love to make one for you! contact me and let's make it happen! }
